MAGISTRATES COURT
Fixed costs
A Standard Trial in magistrates court - cost will be £4,000-£8,000 plus VAT depending on the complexity of the case ( how many pages of prosecution evidence to go through and how many witnesses to be seen)
Plus instructing barrister if required - you will be advised of the cost as quickly as possible.
Please note all fees have to be paid for in advance ( on account) for work to be done and where required a payment plan can be agreed so that full payment is made before the trial commences.
A case with more than 3 defendants is a multi-handed trial in the magistrates court will be a Non Standard case - cost from £10,000
CROWN COURT
Fixed Costs
A case committed to the crown court for trial from the magistrates court is an either way offence of a less serious nature and will normally be put in a “warned list” , Good preparation of these case for trial is essential to winning the case and getting a “Not Guilty” verdict.
The cost of fully preparing your case for trial will depend on the number of pages of prosecution evidence and the number of witnesses to be seen and if any Experts are required - you would be quoted for this separately for this which you will have to be pay for in advance (on account) so they can be instructed.
Up to 100 pages of prosecution evidence = £20,000 plus vat
Counsel £2,500 plus vat
Up to 500 pages of prosecution evidence = £75,000 plus vat
Counsel £5,000 plus vat
Up to 1000 pages of prosecution evidence = £150,000 plus vat
Counsel £10,000 plus vat
Over 1000 pages will be serious and complex and will be non standard preparation and based directly to the hourly rate quoted above.
